Payout figure

The exact amount needed to close your loan today: the outstanding balance, plus any break fee, minus any rebates owed to you. Your lender must provide it on request.

The payout figure (sometimes called a settlement figure) is the real number a refinance has to clear, not the balance on your app, which may not include fees or accrued interest. It's usually valid for a set number of days, since interest keeps accruing daily.

Asking for it is routine and costs nothing. You don't have to explain why, and requesting it doesn't change your loan. When a refinance settles, the new lender pays this figure directly to your old lender, and the old loan closes.
